Exar Announces 800MHz Universal Quad Clock for Complex Timing Solutions

Generates Any Frequency with Configurable LVCMOS/LVDS/LVPECL Outputs

Fremont, CA – February 19, 2015 – Exar Corporation (NYSE: EXAR), a leading supplier of high-performance integrated circuits and system solutions, announces the XR81411, a quad output, high frequency LVCMOS/LVDS/LVPECL configurable clock synthesizer. It generates any frequency in the range of 10MHz to 800MHz with four independent PLLs, utilizing a highly flexible delta-sigma modulator and a wide ranging VCO. The clock outputs have very low phase noise jitter of sub 0.2ps while consuming extremely low power.

The XR81411 can be used with a standard crystal or an external system clock and each independent output can be configured to select from four different frequency multiplier settings to support a wide variety of applications. Each clock synthesizer includes an integer/fractional divider allowing output frequency resolution of less than 2Hz intervals.

“The XR81411 extends our universal clock family to multioutput solutions for various end applications,” said James Lougheed, vice president, component products. “The ability to independently configure each output as LVCMOS, LVDS or LVPECL at any frequency makes this an ideal solution for switches/routers, AV timing and FPGA clocking.”

The XR81411 is available in a RoHS compliant, green/halogen free, space-saving 5mm x 5mm LGA package. Prices start at $10.50 each for the XR81411 in 1,000-piece quantities. Samples and demo boards are available by request at www.exar.com/xr81411.

• RMS phase jitter:
- 125MHz (12kHz to 20MHz): <0.6ps
- 125MHz (1.875MHz to 20MHz): <0.2ps
